With his powerful voice and flawless bilingual delivery, Lupe Contreras has quickly become one of the most recognizable figures in the sport of boxing. Contreras is the official ring announcer for Top Rank Inc.'s "Top Rank Live" & TV Azteca's "Campeon Azteca". In his 11 year career he has been featured on virtually every network that broadcasts boxing, including Telefutura's Solo Boxeo Tecate, Galavision's Boxeo en Esta Esquina, HBO's World Championship Boxing, Boxing After Dark, HBO Latino's Boxeo de Oro, Showtime's SHOBox The New Generation, ESPN 2's Friday Night Fights, & FSN's Sunday Night Fights and The Best Damn Sports Show Period.
A former radio personality in his current home of Houston, Lupe burst onto the boxing scene in 2001 as the winner of Top Rank Inc. and Univision's "La Voz del Box" competition. Contreras was hand picked from among hundreds of entries by executives from both the legendary boxing promoter and the Spanish language media giant to become the next "Voice of Boxing".
Lupe Contreras has gone on to introduce champions the likes of Evander Holyfield, Fernando Vargas, Vladimir Klistchko, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, Jorge Paez, Julio Cesar Chavez and countless others to their adoring fans. His trademark phrase of ¿Quién es el más macho? has since echoed throughout arenas from Las Vegas to New York and Mexico City to Dublin.
